The Cougar volleyball team is advancing on the winner's side of the bracket in Clarksville, Tenn. Wednesday morning at Austin Peay University, Barton defeated Navarro in straight sets to open the NJCAA Div. I National Tournament.
Playing as the No. 6 seed against Navarro (Texas), Barton made quick work of its opponent 25-19, 27-25, 25-12 to stay on the winner's side of the tournament. Anna Wierzbicki and Phoebe Reyes each put down 11 kills for the Cougars. Mina Kaneko led the defense with 10 digs, followed by nine apiece from Maurin Reyes and Kassidy Nixon.
Barton advances to round two against No. 14 Indians Hills Thursday at 4 p.m. Indian Hills, as the No. 14 seed, knocked off No. 3 New Mexico Military in straight sets.
