Labor Day weekend has finally arrived. Festivities for Hoisington's 127th Annual Labor Day Celebration begin Friday evening with a community barbecue and beer garden and the Cardinal football game. Chamber Director Karen Baldyga said some new activities are coming for the actual Labor Day on Monday.

"After the parade, we will have inflatables set up at the city building," she said. "Along with that, we have a Back to School Bash carnival that's being hosted by our Hoisington Elementary Parent Association."

Both events will run from 1-3 p.m. Monday afternoon. A $10 bracelet will allow kids access to the inflatables for the duration, and tickets to carnival games are 50 cents each.

Prior to Labor Day, Hoisington will again host a street dance Sunday evening. There are no coolers at any Labor Day events this year as a beer garden will be available.

Jadynce Jean will once again kick off live music at the street dance Sunday evening.

"The gates will open at 7 p.m.," Baldyga said. "The opening act, which is Jadynce Jean, will begin at 8 p.m. Roughly around 9:15 to 9:30, we will have fireworks on Sunday night, not Saturday. Following that, Homebrew will be back to entertain us for the rest of the evening."

Admission to the street dance is $10 for anyone age 21 or older and $5 for anyone else. Monday's kids' parade will begin at 10:10 a.m. To participate, kids must be in front of Hoisington High School by 9:50 a.m. The big parade will follow.
