The Great Bend Recreation Commission will be hosting a free Stop ‘N Learn session titled “The Sunshine Vitamin” on Wednesday, April 24, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at the Great Bend Rec Activity Center (2715 18th Street).
Vitamin D allows the body to maintain good bone, brain, and heart health. It also plays an important role in preventing depression. However, according to the CDC, 41% of the adults in the U.S. are vitamin D deficient. Join us to discuss the importance of the sunshine vitamin, how to lower your risk of depression, and how to include enough vitamin D in your diet. Also try a vitamin D-rich treat and take home the recipe to try it on your own. Karissa Winkel, Family and Community Wellness Agent for K-State and Extension – Cottonwood District, will be the speaker for the program.
