Always landing on the second Saturday in August, the 11th Annual Party in the Park is less than a month away in Great Bend. The outdoor festival at Veterans Memorial Park will feature many of the staples that residents have come accustom to, but Great Bend Community Coordinator Christina Hayes said there will be new features including Nerf wars, money pit and a cup competition.
The musical entertainment begins at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.
"We will open with The Heathens, which is a local band," said Hayes. "Our big concert is going to be a Garth Brooks tribute band coming from Texas. Our community really loves songs we can all sing to. This will be a great one to try out. Homebrew will end the night after the fireworks."
The mud volleyball tournament, wet/dry parade, kids fun zone and the “Anything
that Floats” race all return for the celebration.
