The Great Bend Softball program swept Garden City on Tuesday evening to secure the WAC Championship, joining the softball team. The Panthers went 9-3 in conference play, sweeping Dodge City and taking two out of three from Garden City, Liberal, and Hays.
Like the softball program, Great Bend finds this success with a new head coach in place, but one who has been with the program for several years. Michael Stettinger is an alum of GBHS and had been an assistant for several years under previous head coach Randy Beck, and took over this season following Beck's retirement.
Great Bend is currently 14-7 and is the 5th ranked team in 5A West.
