Looking for a relaxing, fun evening in a unique, peaceful atmosphere?
Heartland Farm is hosting an Under the Stars cookout and stargazing event set for Friday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy good food, great friends, much laughter, an astronomy program, and wide-open, inky black skies for viewing the Perseid meteor shower.
Special guest Professor Sherry Curtis Rogers from Dodge City Community College, instructor of physical science, astronomy, and meteorology, will present a program on the Perseids and the night sky.
Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chair and telescope if they have one.
The event is kid friendly. Registration is required: Cost of the event is $15 per person, which includes a meal. Register at heartlandfarm-ks.org/stars-2026.
Heartland Farm is a non-profit ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace and is located 14 miles west of Great Bend. From 10th Street and Patton Rd., continue west for 12 miles. When the pavement ends, continue west for one mile. Turn south on CR 390. Heartland Farm is the first farm on the west side of the road.
