3 adults, 3 children hospitalized after Stafford Co. head-on crash

STAFFORD COUNTY—Three adults and 3 juveniles were injured in an accident just after 9:30a.m. Tuesday in Stafford County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2016 GMC Sierra driven by James Lee Estes, 47, Castle Rock, Colorado, was westbound on U.S. 50 three miles south and two miles east of St. John.

The pickup traveled left of center and struck an eastbound 2011 Dodge Charger driven by Juan Carlos Gonzalez-Saldana, 36, Dodge City, head-on. 

EMS transported Estes to the Stafford County Hospital and Gonzalez-Saldana to a Via Christi in Wichita. 

EMS also  transported two passengers in the Dodge Lucia Velez, 41 and a 15-year-old girl both from Dodge City to the hospital in Pratt.

Two additional passengers, a 5-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, both from Dodge City were transported to Wesley Medical Center. The 5, 12 and 15-year-old children were not properly restrained, according to the KHP.  The agency did not have seat belt usage information for Gonzalez-Saldana.
