A winning culture typically leads to more winning. As a special group gets older, they usually get better, and good seasons become great ones. That’s the case for younger players on a roster as well. As they come up behind players that make great seasons happen, they pick up habits and traits that lead to continued results.
That’s the case for Great Bend this year, who has several young guys who are in their first year as starters. Junior linebacker Blake Suppes said he learned from paying attention to the senior linebackers that he’s now playing beside.
"I'm the new guy, and I've been watching Trent Kern for the last couple of seasons. Trying to pick up on as much as I can from him. Trying to learn their (the older guys') ways. They're all great leaders, and they've helped me a lot with tips and everything. I'm just trying to get better like they are."
