Robert Lee Nolan, Jr., 51, Hays, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022, at HaysMed.
He was born Aug. 3, 1971, in Great Bend, the son of Robert L. and Wanda (Burress) Nolan. He graduated from Hays High School in 1989 and from Barton County Community College. Robert dedicated his life to service and saving lives. He was a Captain with the Hays Fire Department then worked for Ellis County EMS and was a flight paramedic with EagleMed. In 2019, he received the AAMS Critical Care Ground Award. Robert was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, an Ozzy Osbourne fan, and car enthusiast. Most of all, he loved his dogs and helping with wheat harvest.
Survivors include his partner: Patrick (Meyeres) Nolan of Hays, mother and step-father: Wanda and Ron Dodson of Hays, step-mother: Mary Nolan of Wichita, four brothers: Scott Nolan and wife Denise of Moses Lake, WA, Stacey Nolan of Hays, Les Nolan and wife Elizabeth of Great Bend, and Dustin Nolan and wife Sarah of Goddard, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian Richards officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday and from 9-9:45 a.m. on Saturday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
