Another Monday night, another busy evening for the Great Bend City Council. After hearing reports from City Administrator Logan Burns and Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Amanda Gaddis, the council will consider four agenda items.
Mark Bitter and Sheryl Cheely are requesting approval of a fourth amendment to the Moderate Income Housing-American Rescue Plan Act grant agreement between the city of Great Bend and the Kansas Houses Resources Corporation regarding the Zarah Lofts. In June, KHRC agreed to provide an additional $90,482 in additional funds, bringing the total MIH-ARPA funds for the project to $1.515 million.
The council will also consider audit proposals for a five-year term. The city has used Gordon CPA for the last six years, and received three proposals for the next term. Shipley & Williams submitted the low bid, followed by Adams Brown. The council will consider remaining with Gordon CPA for continuity purposes.
Venture Aggregates has expressed interest in leasing property on a vacant piece of land situation south of 8th Street, north of the old TSA building and between C and D Streets. The council will consider approving the 1-acre lease, to be used for storage, for $200 a month.
Finally, the city recently solicited bids for phase one of the Events Center parking lot replacement that consists of nearly 10,800 square feet. The city received three bids for the project, with Sharkey Construction submitting the low bid of $98,012. If approved by the council, construction would begin Nov. 1 with a duration of 35 days.
