Great Bend man arrested on drug charges after traffic infraction

On Sunday, Nov. 26 at about 1 p.m., a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle in the 5300 block of 10th Street in Great Bend. The vehicle was stopped for a traffic infraction.

During the course the investigation, Sheriff’s deputies discovered suspected marijuana, fentanyl, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Craig Brenden age 49 of Great Bend, was arrested at the scene and transported to the Barton County Jail without incident.

At the detention facility further drugs were found on Brenden’s person. Brendan has been booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia as well as trafficking contraband in a correctional institution.

Brenden is being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
