The Barton Cougar baseball team seems to be playing their best baseball of the season at just the right time. Following a mid-season slumber, the Cougars have now won seven of eight after sweeping a double header from Cloud County at Lawson-Biggs Field.

The Cougars took game one 10-2 before rolling to a 7-1 victory in the second game to improve to 31-16 on the season and 18-12 in the Jayhawk West. Barton is now tied with Butler and Seward County for second place in the Jayhawk standings heading into the final two games of the season that will be played Friday in Concordia as the two teams wrap up their four game series.

The Region 6 playoffs begin next Friday and two more wins Friday could give the Cougars a more favorable match-up in the first round.
