The Barton Community College women's golf team delivered a record-breaking performance at the Central Kansas Classic Tuesday, capturing its second straight runaway victory of the 2025-26 season at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson, Kansas.
Barton set two program records, the first coming with a final-round 297 (+9) following an opening 302 for a school-best 599 (+23) two-round total. The marks surpassed the previous 298 single-round record and the 608 two-round tally, both set by the 2022-23 squad.
The Cougars claimed the team crown by 55 strokes, placing five inside the top seven of the 45-player field. Barton finished ahead of Iowa Western Community College and by 62 shots over third-place William Penn.
Suri Rocha Orozco gave the team its second straight individual medalist by opening with a red-number 71 that included three birdies, then holding steady Tuesday with another trio of birdies to offset a pair of doubles in her closing 74 to finish at +1, 145.
Three shots back, Panalee Prachavittayagon secured runner-up honors at +3, 147. She tallied three birdies against four bogeys in her opening 74, then delivered a steady final-round 73.
Chomchanok Laparojkit also had an up-and-down Monday but drained a team-high four birdies to offset five bogeys in posting 74. She steadied her play on Tuesday with another birdie en route to a second straight 74, finishing 3rd at +4, 148.
Giovanna Tabanag landed 5th at +11, 155, highlighted by a collegiate-best 3-over 75 on Tuesday after opening with an 80.
Diana Alvarado, last week's Carmichael Cup medalist, made the biggest final day climb for Barton, improving seven strokes from her opening 83 by sinking two birdies in her second-round 76 to move into 7th at +15, 159.
Kadynce Nash landed just outside the top 10 in 11th, carding 83-82 for a +21, 165 total.
Alexandria Hunt put together matching 86s for 18th place at +28, 172, while Alexandria Baxter rounded out the lineup in 26th, improving three shots on day two with a 93-90 for +39, 183.
The Cougars return to action Monday at the two-day Central Plains Invitational hosted by Newton's Sand Creek Golf Course.
