Falling short of a comeback bid in the prior meeting back in November, the Barton Community College women's basketball team pulled out a wild one on the road Saturday afternoon defeating Cowley College 66-65 in overtime at the William S. Scott Auditorium in Arkansas City, KS.

Seeing its early seven-point third quarter lead evaporate into a nine-point deficit at the quarters end, all things appeared dim for the Cougars trailing 55-48 with 45-seconds remaining but an 11-4 surge capped behind Alaina Eck's top of the key three-pointer with 4.7 seconds delivered overtime.

Entering overtime for the third time this season and trailing 62-61 in the extra frame, Kodi Greer's left corner three pointer for the freshman's lone points of the afternoon supplied Barton the lead for good with 3:14 remaining followed by Regina Donanu's jumper 49-seconds ensuing capping a 5-0 run and 66-62 lead before needing one more defensive stand in the final eight seconds.

Inbounding with 8.3 seconds remaining and up 66-65, the Cougars 29th turnover of the game left the door open for the Tigers but a couple last second Cowley chances fell off sealing Barton's second straight win in Arkansas City.

Salvaging a split in the season series, the Cougars improve to 7-9 in conference play and move to .500 for the first time since November now sitting at 11-11 overall. The Tigers suffer their second straight loss falling to 8-8 in league play and 13-8 on the season.

Barton will put its three-game winning streak on the line Wednesday night hosting Butler Community College as the Grizzlies took the first go around in El Dorado 63-46.

First half play was nothing to ride home about as the two teams shot a combined fridged 22-percent.

Barton overcame a 29-percent shooting first half to finish at 38-percent while making all six 3-pointers in the second half including a perfect 4-of-4 shooting fourth quarter to finish at 46.2-percent.

Finishing 15 points below their conference leading 80 points per game scoring, Cowley shook off its 16-percent first half shooting performance to end at 27-percent with a 21.7% mark behind the arc going 10-of-46 from outside.

Vivian Onugha led four Cougars in double-figure scoring registering her 12th straight and 18th double-double of the season behind a team high 17 points, game high 17 rebounds, and game tying four assist effort.

Fouling out early in overtime, Brittany Simpson turned in an all-around performance finishing with 15 points connecting on all three of her arc busters in the fourth quarter, to go along with, six boards, three assists, two steals and pair of blocks in 38 minutes.

Scoring Barton's final nine points and force overtime on her second made 3-pointer of the night, Eck added 12 points and five rebounds while Donanu flirted with her first collegiate double-double adding 10 points and eight rebounds.

Hattie Pyle led the Tigers turning in a career high 25-point performance going a perfect 4-of-4 from outside with seven rebounds and four assists. Alexcia Murphy rounded out Cowley's double-figure scoring adding 11 points, five rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
