Great Bend PD use camera system to catch fleeing subject

On Friday, Jan. 31 at approximately 1:15 p.m. an officer with the Great Bend Police Department observed a 2001 Chevy Tahoe commit a traffic infraction in the 2200 block of 12th Street. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the driver refused to yield and accelerated away from the officer.

The vehicle was able to elude law enforcement at the time and leave the city limits, but with the use of the FLOCK camera system the vehicle and license plate were identified.

Officers conducted a follow up investigation and on Friday, Jan. 31 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied in the 300 block of Pine Street. Officers located a subject walking in the area of the vehicle who they identified at Vince Dandy, age 23. It was determined that the vehicle belonged to him, and after questioning, Dandy admitted to being the driver of the vehicle and to fleeing from officers.

Dandy was transported to the Barton County Jail and booked on charges of felony flee and elude, in lieu of bond. This case is still under investigation.
