The Hoisington Police Department is investigating an attempted kidnapping that took place within city limits Wednesday evening. At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 1, a juvenile reported he was walking in the 800 block of W. 2nd Street when he was approached by at least two males in a white van.

"It was reported last night that subjects in a white, large-sized van with faded paint grabbed a young man that was walking on the west side of Hoisington," said Chief of Police Kenton Doze. "They tried to pull him in the van, but the young man was able to fight his way free and get away and contacted the police. Now we're asking for people's help that might be living in that area. If they have Ring doorbells or any cameras, check their videos and see if there are any white vans that show up in the videos so maybe we have something to go with."

The vehicle, which was occupied by at least two subjects, is described as a white, full-size van with peeling paint and a sliding rear passenger door. The vehicle reportedly left town after the incident.

"It was reported that it left town westbound," Doze said. "We're just trying to follow up every lead we can get ahold of and asking people to keep their eyes out and be vigilant."

Anyone with information about the van can contact Hoisington police by calling (620) 653-4995.
