On March 21, officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of Main Street in reference to a report of a large fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two individuals who were leaving the scene.
The individuals stated they left the area out of fear for their safety. They reported being harassed while exiting a local establishment, which escalated into a physical altercation. According to the victims, during the incident, two male subjects brandished weapons, and one of the individuals pointed a handgun in their direction.
Officers located a suspect in the area identified as Calvin Smith, an 18-year-old male. Both victims positively identified Smith as one of the armed individuals involved in the incident. Smith was taken into custody and arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault. He was transported to the Barton County Jail without further incident.
