The unofficial end-of-the-summer bash is over in Great Bend, and now city staff is moving forward with planning more fall activities for citizens to enjoy. Party in the Park took place this past Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park and included games, food and entertainment for all ages.
Great Bend
Community Coordinator Christina Hayes said roughly 5,000 people attended the festival
throughout the day.
"We can not wait to see how this grows," said Hayes. "We added a few fun events that were really successful. I think the First Kansas Bank money pit was fun to add and a change of pace. We also had new winners for the mud volleyball tournament."

The Oozefest Mud Volleyball Tournament, hosted by the Great Bend Recreation Commission, had nearly 30 teams compete this year. “Diggas in Paris” was the name of the team that won the mud volleyball
tournament. The team consisted of students from Great Bend High School.
Hayes thanked the Great Bend Rec, city crews, partners and
volunteers that assisted with the 11th Annual Party in the Park.
Next up for Hayes and her staff…Wine in the Wild. The event in September helps
raise funds for the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo.
