Margaret “Maggie” Lucille Hester, 68, passed away September 15, 2021, at the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. She was born on February 1, 1953, at Great Bend, to John & Lucille (Gutierrez) Zero. She married David Hester, Sr. on May 13, 1973, at Galatia.
A lifetime Great Bend resident, Margaret worked for many years at Casey’s and Arby’s. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Margaret enjoyed rose gardening and going to the casino. She loved taking care of her beloved cockatoo and chihuahua.
Survivors include her husband, David Hester, Sr. of the home; a son, David Hester, Jr. of Great Bend; a brother, Daniel Scott and wife Margaret of Great Bend; two sisters, Laura Fuzzell and husband David of Great Bend, and Johnnie Francis and husband Rick of Manhattan; many close nieces and nephews; and many children and grandchildren of the heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Michael Paul Hester.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend Adam Wutka presiding. Inurnment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Galatia. Memorials have been designated to the Margaret Hester Funeral Expense Fund in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
