
From the Kansas Wetlands Education Center...
This core came from the depths of the ocean near the Antarctic Peninsula. It shows seasonal layers composed of different diatomaceous species that were deposited during the late Holocene and provides evidence for the changing climate and glacial retreat that took place in the region after the last ice age.

Come learn about the Joides Resolution ship that drills for these core samples and experience hands-on displays to learn more about the process.
