Lady Panther volleyball team falls to Manhattan, beats Hays

The Lady Panther volleyball team ended the briefest of skids Tuesday night in Manhattan. Great Bend suffered its first loss of the season against No. 4 Clay Center (4A) to close out the Riley County tournament on Saturday. Tuesday, the Lady Panthers dropped their first two sets of a triangular to Manhattan. Great Bend ended the streak by beating Hays to move to 9-2 on the season.

Manhattan took both sets from the Panthers 25-19. Sophomore Kya Behr and senior Kara Feist combined for 13 of the team's 19 kills in the match. Behr had the lone ace, and freshman Micah Ellegood had the lone block. Behr added 10 assists while freshman Mikala Minton finished with four. Junior Ava Kaiser was busy in the back row with 10 digs. Behr and junior Kimberly Hofflinger each added seven digs, and Minton finished with five.

Great Bend battled with Hays for three sets 25-22, 17-25, 25-22. 

The Lady Panthers host Junction City on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.
