The City of Great Bend is hopeful to start moving into the $8.8 million Justice Center by the end of September. Those motorists driving by the new police station and municipal court will need to be aware of the new one-way street.
The Great Bend
City Council Monday night approved an ordinance establishing a northbound,
one-way street on Baker Avenue from 11th Street to 12th
Street. City Administrator Brandon Anderson said parallel parking will be
available on both sides of Baker.
"We felt like it was probably for the safety of that area and it was the right thing to do to make it a one-way street," said Anderson. "The northbound decision was made because there are four residences on the east side that would be affected by that. This makes it as convenient as we can with those four residences."
The city will start a public information campaign to notify the public of the
change as the proper signage will be placed to allow for enforcement.
The Public Works department will mark and place signage near Baker Avenue to
give proper notice to the one-way designation.
