The 5th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team chalked up its 21st sweep of the season with a 3-0 victory Saturday evening hosting Seward County Community College (25-17, 25-16, 25-21).
Barton closed out both of the first two sets with a big stretch of points, six straight to secure the opener followed by nine straight for a 2-0 match lead. Tied at nineteen in the third, the Cougars broke away from the set's eighth gridlock with a trio of points in going on to wrap up its fifth straight victory in the series.
The bounce-back victory improves Barton to 11-1 in KJCCC play and 24-2 on the year while Seward County falls to 4-8 and 8-14 overall.
Next up is Wednesday's trip to Dodge City Community College for a 6:30 p.m. first serve.
Barton's offense was efficient on the night on a .363 attack led by Anna Wierzbicki's .412 with 10 kills as Phoebe Reyes had a .381 percentage on a team leading 11 kills.
Aubrey Olander accounted for a team high four blocks while offensively put down 5 kills on 8 swings for a .625 efficiency.
Overall, the Cougars had 46 kills, Mya Thompson with 7 kills on a .389 attack with Naya Danenberg and Kassidy Nixon adding 6 kills each.
Keying the 6-2 offense were Elena Stankovic's 21 assists with Maurin Reyes putting up 19 assists and served up three of the team's nine aces.
Mariana Silva led the Saints with 14 kills on a .258 efficiency as the team overall combined for just .1565.
