It has been a couple decades since Great Bend Middle School has seen new flooring in its commons area. The USD 428 Board of Education changed that by approving a flooring bid from 4-State Maintenance out of Coffeyville.
Superintendent Khris Thexton says the current flooring is mismatched, some
grout is not holding tight and there is buckling of tiles.
"Down the hallways, that flooring was done in 2012," said Thexton. "They put carpet squares in the library and classrooms then too. The only place that was not touched at that time was the commons area. It is the last of that flooring to be original."
Out of the three bids received, 4-State Maintenance submitted the lowest bid of
$48,171.99.
