The Great Bend Fire Department budgeted for a replacement of a staff vehicle in 2020. The Fire Department obtained bids from Marmie Auto Group for a half-ton Dodge, Ford and Chevy.

The government pricing and current incentives would allow the Fire Department to purchase the Dodge 1500 for $25,780. Fire Chief Luke McCormick says with a trade-in allowance of $10,600, the actual purchase of the pickup would be $15,180. This pricing would allow the department to replace a second staff vehicle with a trade in.

"This vehicle has put in its workload," said McCormick. "We were quite surprised when they gave us that trade-in value."

Public Lands Director Scott Keeler requested that instead of trading the 2004 Dodge pickup, he would transfer funds from the Park Department to cover the trade-in allowance. The 2004 Dodge Dakota will work well in the Parks Department.

The Fire Department was approved to purchase two 2020 Dodge ½ ton vehicles from Marmies for $40,960.
