The Barton County Commission will hold a special meeting Friday, May 1 at 9 a.m. to discuss a resolution concerning access to Barton County buildings during the public health emergency and rescinding a resolution adopted March 20.

To help slow down the spread of the coronavirus, the Commission voted to close public access to all county buildings. The resolution will be discussed at Friday's meeting which will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign in or by signing in anonymously. Anyone needing assistance should call 620-793-1800 for instructions.

Karen Winkelman, Barton County Interim Health Director, will also provide an update relative to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly mentioned she will reveal plans Thursday, April 30 to reopen the state before the statewide stay-at-home order expires May 3. Kelly has suggested plans will go back to county governments to make decisions.
