Jessica R. Champ, age 52 years, of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, passed away in Pawnee Rock on Monday evening, March 23, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 7, 1967 at Great Bend, Kansas to John D. Champ, Jr. and Virginia L. (Miller) Champ. She lived in the area most of her life except for a ten-year period that she lived in Garden City, Kansas and a two-year period in Woodward, Oklahoma. Jessica was a homemaker most all of her life, and loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren. She also loved NASCAR, and was a huge fan of both Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Survivors include her 30-year spouse Steve Shearrer, Sr. of Pawnee Rock, Kansas; three sons: Steven Shearrer, Jr. of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, David (and his wife, Pamela) Shearrer of Garden City, Kansas, and Truman (and his wife, Becca) Shearrer of Pawnee Rock, Kansas; one stepson Buck (and his wife, Riane) Shea of Topeka, Kansas; one daughter Ashley Shearrer (and her fiance’ Ben White) of Hutchinson, Kansas; numerous grandchildren; one brother Rick Thomas of Great Bend, Kansas and two sisters: Teresa (and her husband Rob) Smith of Mexico and Christina Champ of Hoisington, Kansas; nieces and nephews.
Due to the current National health crisis and in accordance with the latest restrictions placed on public gatherings, Private Family Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, Kansas with Pastor Tonya Andrews officiating. Interment will be in the Larned City Cemetery at Larned, Kansas. Private Family Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Golden Belt Humane Society at Great Bend, Kansas.
