Lady Panther Bowlers qualify for state; Boys qualify two

The Great Bend Lady Panthers have qualified for 5-1A State Bowling Tournament at Northrock Lanes in Wichita March 6th after winning the Regional title in Buhler Monday.

Sophomore Paige Wagner led the Lady Panthers to the championship with her first place finish as she rolled a 645 series to beat second place Heidi Allen of McPherson who scored a 613.

The Panthers won the title with a 3122 score. They were followed by Salina South (3032) and Buhler in third place with a score of 3029.

Great Bend had four other bowlers who finished in the top 19. Zues Garcia took 12th with a 531, Aliyah Fryberger was 14th with a 528 scored, Lexy Fox 15th with a 524 and Nichole Griffin took 19th with a score of 516. Kristy Wittig was 30th with a series of 417.

The Panther boys failed to qualify as a team, finishing 4th , just 22-pins behind third place Salina South.

Two Panthers, Bryce Moore (4th) and Corbin Stanley (6th) qualified as two of six bowlers who will participate in next week's tournament in Wichita.
