Hailey Jump, Water and Wastewater Operator for Hoisington, Kansas, was presented with the 2025 Operator in Training – Emerging Excellence Award by Kansas Municipal Utilities (KMU). KMU is the statewide association of community-owned and operated electric, gas, water, and wastewater utilities in Kansas. Jump was presented the award at the 2025 KMU Conference in Wichita on April 24, 2025, by Katie Miller, KMU Director of Water Services.

Hailey Jump has been with the City since 2017, beginning her career as a certified EMT. In 2021, she transitioned to a full-time position in the Public Works department; subsequently, in 2022, she relocated from Public Works to the Water Department.

She joined the water plant crew with little experience in the area and has done an exceptional job growing herself and the water/wastewater team. She has earned her Level II water certification and her Level I wastewater certification, and is working toward her Level III water certification. Hailey quickly earned the respect of her peers and contractors in the community and continues to grow herself and her team, helping to increase Hoisington's number of certified water and wastewater operators.
