Hoisington’s Jonathan Mitchell was named the 2020 secretary for the Kansas Association of City/County Managers (KACM) at the group’s annual conference, held last December in Garden City.

KACM is an organization of local government management officials working together to support and promote professional management for effective local city and county governments in Kansas.

As part of the KACM executive board, Mitchell also participated in the International City/County Management Association’s annual conference in Toronto, Canada.

"I was the state's representative to ICMA planning conference," said Mitchell. "They paid my way to go to Toronto and be part of that."

Mitchell helps make decisions for the board that serves roughly 225 members around Kansas. KACM seeks to support managers and administrators by interchanging ideas of information and professional development.

Mitchell was excited to help bring KACM’s next annual conference to Great Bend in 2020.

"I was part of that board that made the decision to bring the conference to Great Bend," Mitchell said. "I am proud to bring it back to Barton County."

The 2020 KACM Annual Conference will be December 2-4 in Great Bend.

Serving as the treasurer last year, Mitchell expects to be the vice president of KACM next year and the president in 2022.
