Alan Moeder was one of three councilmembers sworn into office this past Monday night for a seat on the Great Bend City Council. With Jolene Biggs and Cory Urban starting their second terms, Moeder was the new face to the governing body along with Mayor Cody Schmidt.

Moeder noted it was different feeling sitting up on the council with everyone staring at him, but is anxious to see what this board can accomplish.

"I want to see positive attitude on the council," said Moeder. "I want to do positive things for the city to help it grow."

Moeder campaigned in one of three uncontested races for council this past November and garnered 405 votes for the Ward 1 seat.

"I would be game to listen to a lot of things to make the city grow," Moeder said. "I want to listen to citizens. You cannot always make it work but at least you listen."

Moeder’s two-year term will be up for reelection in the 2021 election.
