Robert “Bob” Burl Harris

GREAT BEND – Robert “Bob” Burl Harris, 74, passed away November 29, 2019, at his home in Great Bend. He was born on September 19, 1945, at Claremore, Oklahoma to Bural Lee and Anita (Record) Harris. He married Carol Yvonne Demanett on January 28, 1962, at Plainville. She died March 23, 2008. He then married Gailya (Rice) Crawford on August 8, 2019 at Great Bend. She survives.


Coming from Plainville in 1969, Robert continued to work in the oil servicing industry his entire career and in 1994 became the General Manager for Kansas Acid. He continued his employment there to present. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, NRA, Eagle Lodge and API. Bob enjoyed the 4th July, and was an avid antique gun collector, actively competing in Cowboy Action Shooting competitions. 


Survivors include, his wife, Gailya of the home; three sons, Bob Harris and wife Kayci of Great Bend, Rick Harris and wife Ginny of Leawood and Brad Harris of Bartlesville, OK; two brothers, Tom Harris of Great Bend and Jerald Harris of Topeka; three sisters, Jacque Meitler of Glenwood Springs, CO, Patty Harris of Wichita and Dorothy Schmidt of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; and a brother, Kenny Harris. 


Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Barbara Jones presiding. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
