GREAT BEND - Doris J. West, 98, passed away November 25, 2019, at Park West Plaza, Wichita. She was born on March 14, 1921, in Great Bend to Kirby Evers & Lillie (Essmiller) Evers.
Receiving her education in Great Bend, graduating with the Class of 1939. Doris met and later married Harvey West on April 17, 1940. Doris worked as a farm wife and homemaker. Together they raised their family of one son, Marty S. West and wife Janis and one daughter, Nancy J. DeFazio and husband Joe, all of Wichita; three grandchildren, Chris West and wife Martha, Amy Kleineschmidt and husband Scott and Gina DeFazio; four great grandchildren, Emma Kleinschmidt, Evan Kleinschmidt, Stella West and Cale West; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Doris enjoyed being surrounded by the love of her family, relatives and friends. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, a Blue Bird Leader, Volunteer E.A.R.S and a lifetime member Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey L. West; and one sister, Ida Clarke.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2019 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend Dick Ogle presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Sunflower Diversified Services, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
