Since 2018, Barton County has gone to an access control entrance system for most facilities. The security measure requires new or advanced hardware to the main entrances of buildings.
The Cottonwood Extension District recently moved out of the Baker Avenue building, shared with the county’s juvenile services program. Taking over the building space, the county will install five more access-control doors.
Barton County Information Technology Director Dereck
Hollingshead was approved for access-control hardware along with more interior
security cameras with a new server.
"Phil (Hathcock) has access to the landfill cameras," said Hollingshead. "Road and Bridge monitors some cameras. There are courthouse cameras. Levi (Morris) has various cameras in his offices. We grant access based off need."
Nex-Tech Security submitted the only bid for the wireless door and alarm system
of $9,004. The server and cameras cost $13,705 and will also be provided by
Nex-Tech Security.
