From the city of Great Bend

Residents and anyone who travels Great Bend's streets have until Nov. 1 to share their transportation safety concerns through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Community Survey. Responses will help set local safety priorities and shape Getting Around Great Bend: A Safety Action Plan.

As part of its federally funded SS4A Study, the City used historical crash data and feedback from the first round of public engagement to identify streets and intersections where safety improvements could have the greatest impact. These locations make up the preliminary High-Priority Network (HPN).

The project team is asking the public to help confirm those priority locations, identify their top transportation safety concerns, and evaluate potential safety strategies. Input from people who drive, walk, bike, use mobility devices, or travel in other ways will help shape recommendations to reduce crashes that cause serious injuries or deaths and make streets safer for everyone.

Community members can also share feedback in person at the last Fridays on Forest on Oct. 30 from 5 to 10 p.m. JEO Consulting Group representatives will host an outreach booth with interactive display boards where attendees can explore the project, review the High-Priority Network, and weigh in on transportation safety priorities.

Survey responses and feedback from community events will help the City prioritize safety concerns, identify high-risk locations, and develop action plan strategies. The plan will also strengthen Great Bend's ability to pursue future funding for transportation safety improvements and implement projects that make travel safer for everyone.
