Making an immediate impact in her debut weekend, Natalia Malinowska-Nowak helped guide the 13th-ranked Barton Community College volleyball team to a perfect 4-0 start in earning the season's first KJCCC Division I Setter of the Week honor.
The freshman totaled 114 assists over the Cougars' 15 sets of action, adding a team-high 45 digs, six service aces and three double-double performances as Barton collected three victories over nationally ranked opponents.
Directing the Cougars' 5-1 attack in Friday's opening day action, Malinowska-Nowak began her Barton career with 43 assists and eight digs in a five-set victory over No. 6 Odessa College. The freshman followed with 44 assists, 10 digs and three service aces as Barton knocked off No. 10 Eastern Arizona College in four sets.
Moving into shared setting duties during Saturday's pair of sweeps, Malinowska-Nowak posted 15 assists and 15 digs against NJCAA Division II No. 6 Mesa Community College before concluding the weekend with 12 assists and 12 digs against Tyler Junior College.
Malinowska-Nowak and the Cougars return to the court Friday and Saturday at the Victory Electric Classic in Dodge City. Barton opens the weekend Friday at 9:30 a.m. against Eastern Wyoming College before concluding the two-day event Saturday against Lee College and Iowa Western Community College.
