The 42nd Annual Demolition Derby is gearing up to be one of the marquee events of Hoisington’s 130th Annual Labor Day weekend celebration. Scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 6, the high-octane event features a total purse of $13,000 up for grabs across multiple classes.
Gates open at 12 p.m. at Bicentennial Park, with engines roaring to life at 1 p.m.
Classes, Rules, and Officiating
Organizers have announced that CDDA/GSA along with Chad Markley and Markley Demolition, Inc. will return to handle the officiating, inspecting, and announcing duties. With this partnership, the event will officially adopt CDDA/GSA rules and regulations, which will be strictly enforced to keep the show running smoothly.
Competitors will battle it out in the following divisions:
-Limited Wel
-Bone Stock
-Compact Classes
-Van Class
-Hobo Moto Swap
Drivers should note that each class requires a minimum of eight entries to secure the full payouts. Every class will feature a thrilling conclusion with a Mad Dog heat.
Park Improvements and Attendee Guidelines
Spectators heading to Bicentennial Park will find upgraded seating waiting for them. Local Hoisington High School students recently repainted the new boards on the bleachers to get the grounds ready for the holiday crowds.
To ensure a smooth experience and clear views for everyone, the Chamber has implemented updated policies for this year:
Beverages: Each attendee is permitted one sealed water or juice bottle and one empty insulated cup. No outside alcoholic drinks or coolers are allowed.
Tents: To prevent obstructed views for fellow patrons, no tents will be allowed.
Food & Drink Options: Two food vendors will be on-site serving meals: Brand 17 BBQ and the Lions Evening Club. Additionally, the Chamber will operate two open beer gardens alongside a concession stand offering popcorn, candy, soda, and water.
The massive community tradition is led by Nick Lomas and his dedicated crew of volunteers, with essential assistance provided by the City of Hoisington, KanEquip, and other local partners.
