The City of Great Bend released a bid for 80,000 square yards of chip seal with a fog seal topcoat for their annual street maintenance. The Great Bend City Council approved the bid from Circle C for $312,000.

Public Works Director Jason Cauley said the city has approximately 60 blocks mapped out to be surfaced this year.

"Circle C was the only bid, as we've seen historically," said Cauley. "We also contacted a couple of our contacts to make sure that bid was a fair market value. It proved to be so. It's very comparable to what other entities are getting as well."

According to bid documents, there is an estimated start in September.

A few of the main areas of the project will include portions of Heizer, Hubbard and Holland streets, just south of 10th Street between Monroe and Adams, and just north of Jefferson Elementary School.
