The learning curve continued for the 25th ranked Barton Community College wrestling team Saturday at the UNK Younes Holiday Inn Open held at Kearney, Nebraska.

Battling against two and four year levels featuring some of the top NCAA Division II and NAIA programs, the Cougars mended just two victories in the stout double-elimination format compiling a 2-12 day.

Notching one of the two victories at last week's Grand View Open, freshman Avery Wolf fashioned the first victory of the day supplying a second-period fall over Jaren Marx (Unattached) before falling in his next two matches of the day in the 125-weight class to Dylan Sheler (Newman) and Tyler Fields (Colby Community College).

Receiving an opening round bye in the 174-weight class, Keondre Bonner produced the final Barton victory of the day with an opening period pin over Cole Manrose (Cowley). Bonner had his day close in the final two rounds suffering falls to Rocco D'Ascoli (Ottawa) and Avery Krippnar (Colorado School of Mines).

Unable to notch a victory but competing over the afternoon was Stephen Baldwin (133-pound), Cohen Suchy (144-pound), Zane Hennessey (149-pound) and Chance Unruh (157-pound).

Barton will have the Thanksgiving week off before returning to the mats December 4th at the Jet Open in Wichita, KS hosted by Newman University while concluding the fall semester December 10th at the Bob Smith held in Hays, KS.
