Barton women's golf finishes second at Barton Invitational

For the third time in as many fall tournaments, the Barton Community College women's golf team finished runner-up with the latest coming Tuesday in hosting their own Barton Invitational held at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Junction City, Kansas.

Back on the course a day removed from their previous tournament in Nebraska, Barton opened first round action Monday with a 349 (+61) before carding a final round of 331 (+43) on Tuesday finishing behind victor Iowa Western Community College. The Reivers compiled rounds of 311 (+23) and 321 (+33) for the48-stroke title. Garden City Community College also competed in the event, carding a final round of 333 after not scoring on Monday due to a player's illness.

Chomchanok Laparojkit again led the Barton entries with a 3rd place finish in the 18-competitor field at 17-under, 161 tying the spot with Garden City's Fernanda Rodriguez. Laparojkit stayed consistent with 81 and 80 rounds as Rodriguez climbed three spots into the tie following an 82 with a final round tournament second best 79.

Iowa Western took the top two spots amongst their six in the top ten, Olivia Holyoak-Church winning by five strokes (79-72) over teammate Jennifer Cho (76-80).

Frida Medellin placed 7th at 170 (84-86) as Alayna Crosby made a three spot climb behind a final round team third best card to place 9th with a 174 accumulation (91-83).

Also bouncing back from a rough day one, Joellen Vogt posted the Cougars' second best score of 82 on Tuesday in moving into 12th overall at 177 (95-82).
