Former Great Bend attorney, historian and author Marty Keena will present a program on the country’s first black filmmaker, Oscar Micheaux, at 7 p.m., Monday, February 24th at the Barton County Historical Society Village, south of Great Bend on Highway 281. Micheaux produced and directed 44 films during his career. He depicted contemporary characters in his films and countered the negative on-screen portrayal of blacks at the time.
