Many viral trends the world can do without. But there are some that lead to a greater good. Nichelle Holinde found the Raising Men and Women Lawn Care Service 50 Yard Challenge website and shared it with her son, Branson. Thursday, the 12-year-old embarked on his quest to mow 50 lawns at no charge for the elderly, disabled, veterans, or single parents.
"I like helping people, and I also joined a local group called Youth Crew this year," Branson said. "What we do is we meet once a month and we give back to the community and raise awareness about drugs and alcohol. I've been thinking how I can be a good member and contribute fresh ideas to make our group better."

Nichelle shared a post about the challenge on Facebook Tuesday. By Thursday morning, the post had 226 shares. The Holindes have received numerous messages about potential yards for the challenge. Branson is ready to take the challenge one step further. Boys and girls aged 8-17 who mow at least 10 yards will receive a t-shirt from We Are Raising Men. Those who complete 50 lawns also receive a new mower, weed eater, and leaf blower.
"I was planning to donate the equipment to Youth Crew so next year they can start doing it more for the people who live in different towns in the county," Branson said.
