Ramona Tefft, age 91

Ramona Tefft, 91, a longtime resident of Great Bend, now residing in Wichita, Kansas, passed away June 8, 2022, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita. She was born in Hoisington, Kansas, on August 23, 1930, the daughter of Willard “Bus” & Frances Fern (Kent) Hall. Ramona married Maurice R. Tefft on June 26, 1949, in Hoisington. Maurice passed away on November 10, 1980. She and Maurice were members of the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend for many years.

Ramona was a graduate of Hoisington High School. Following graduation, she briefly worked as a bookkeeper, then once married, she and Maurice moved to Great Bend. She became a full-time homemaker, until he passed. She then went to work at Westwood Racquetball Club as a bookkeeper, then became a traveling relief care companion for Loving Care, Inc., of Pratt, Kansas. At age 70, she retired and moved to Olathe, Kansas, then to Wichita, Kansas, at age 80 to be near her eldest daughter’s family. She kept very busy playing bridge at many of the local senior centers three times a week, until her health declined.

Survivors include, a daughter, Maureen (Dave) Henning of Wichita, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Hall of Martinez, Ga.; a son-in-law, Bruce Brooks of Lawrence, Kan.; three grandchildren, Erin Brooks of Lawrence, Kan., Megan Brooks of Shawnee, Kan. and Michelle (Mike) Cottingham of Wichita, Kan.; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Tefft; a daughter, Shelley V. Brooks; her sister, Aileen Bryant; and two brothers, Bob and Kent Hall.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the Great Bend Cemetery, with Pastor Chris Lehew presiding. Memorials have been designated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
