To get your name on the local ballot, potential candidates still have more than six weeks to file. Currently, no one has filed for one the four seats on the Great Bend City Council or the Hoisington City Council. Kirk Clawson is the only name on the ballot as a city candidate, filing for one of the three available positions on the Ellinwood City Council.
Great Bend City Administrator Brandon Anderson said four council terms will expire at the end of the year.
"Expiring terms this year include Lindsey Krom-Craven in Ward 1, Kevyn Soupiset in Ward 2, Davis Jimenez in Ward 3 and Tina Mingenback in Ward 4."
With June 1 falling on a weekend, the filing deadline this year is June 3 by 12 p.m. Interested individuals can file at the Barton County Clerk’s Office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
County candidates include incumbents Barb Esfeld and Shawn Hutchinson filing for another term on the Barton County Commission.
