From Pawnee County...
The Pawnee County Board of Commissioners invite and encourage the public to attend a Town Hall meeting for discussing the 1% Sales Tax in Pawnee County. The meeting will take place at the JA Haas Building at the Pawnee County Fairgrounds on July 16 at 7 p.m.
Please feel free to attend and join the discussion to explore options associated with the sales tax and health care associated services in Pawnee County. A handout is available for download / printing here.
Pawnee County currently has a 1% general purposes retail sales tax (authorized by K.S.A. 12-189) of which a portion of the revenue is apportioned to each of the cities in the County. No one has any recollection of how Pawnee County’s 1% general purposes retail sales tax was enacted. Pawnee County also has a 1% retail sales tax that was passed by election back in 2009 to fund “Health Care Services” (K.S.A. 12-187(b)(5)). This gives Pawnee County a total 2% countywide retail sales tax rate. Additionally, the City of Larned has its own .5% sales tax.
