From Great Bend Fire/EMS
Great Bend fire personnel responded to the report of a structure fire in the 1200 block of Roosevelt just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning. First arriving crews reported heavy smoke coming from the residence.
Crews made entry into the residence to search for the fire. At the same time, other crew members made entry and began searching the residence for possible victims. The fire was located, knocked down, and extinguished. No victims were located.
It was later found out that no one was currently living in the residence. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Responding agencies include the Great Bend Police Department, Wheatland Electric, Kansas Gas, and the City of Great Bend Water Dept.
