The community is invited to attend the Great Bend High School Marching Band Showcase this Friday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. This free event marks the culmination of a week-long band camp where students braved the summer heat to refine their musical skills, perfect their routines, and grow as a team.
The 2025-2026 GBHS Marching Band is under the new leadership of Ellie White, who brings fresh energy and enthusiasm to the program in her first year as Director. Assisting White are two other new music educators in USD 428: Alejandra Cornelio, band director at Great Bend Middle School, and Mark Ahlman, GBHS orchestra director.
Color guard instructors Melanie Maneth and Donna Becker, along with drum line instructors Alan Baxter and Addison Baxter, have also played an instrumental role in preparing students for this performance.
“This showcase is a celebration of the students’ hard work and dedication,” said White. “We’re excited to share our progress with the community and kick off a great year of music.”
