The 5th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team received an at-large berth today from the national office for the 2023 NJCAA Division I Championship Tournament held November 12-18 at Wichita's Stryker Sports Complex.
Looking to rebound from a last second defeat in Sunday's Region VI/Plains District Championship, the now 17-2-3 Cougars will play the 3:00 p.m. Pool C contests on Monday and Tuesday.
Barton opens play on the Stadium Field against 10th seeded Indian Hills Community College (9-2-4) followed by moving to Field 3 on Tuesday in taking on the pool's top seeded, 3rd overall Salt Lake Community College (16-1-2).
Both contests will be a rematch of sorts, Barton defeating Indian Hills 3-1 way back on September 1 at the Cougar Soccer Complex and meeting Salt Lake again on the big stage as the Bruins handed the Cougars a 3-1 defeat at the 2020 National Tournament to finish pool play 1-1 having defeated Coastal Bend College 2-1 a day prior.
