With a day to spare before the deadline, Great Bend Mayor
Cody Schmidt has filed his intent for a third term as mayor. Schmidt joins Davis
Jimenez as the two names so far on the ballot for the mayor seat. Interested
candidates have until 12 p.m. on June 1 to file for elected
positions in Barton County.
Schmidt replaced Joe Andrasek as mayor in January 2020 after receiving more
than 1,100 votes as a write-in candidate. The USD 428 employee was voted in for
a second term that started in 2022.
Jimenez has served as a Great Bend City Council member since he was appointed
in February 2021 and won an uncontested race to serve a two-year term that
began this past January.
