From the Golden Belt Community Foundation...

The Golden Belt Community Foundation is pleased to offer financial assistance to Pawnee County residents through the Medical Transportation Fund, made possible by the Margaret Brooks Endowment Fund. This fund was started in 2018 and is designed to assist individuals and families who are facing a temporary financial hardship due to travel-related expenses for medical treatment outside of Pawnee County.

Medical care often requires traveling long distances, and the cost of transportation, lodging, meals, and vehicle maintenance can add an additional burden for those already dealing with health challenges. The Medical Transportation Fund provides up to $500 in assistance per calendar year to help ease that burden and ensure access to necessary care.

To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Pawnee County for at least six consecutive months prior to applying and must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants should demonstrate a temporary financial need related to medical conditions and lack the financial resources to cover transportation-related expenses. Assistance is available for individuals who are being examined, evaluated, or receiving medical care, treatment, or rehabilitation at a facility outside of Pawnee County. Applicants may also qualify if their household income is at or below 400% of the U.S. federal poverty guidelines.

Applications for the Medical Transportation Fund are accepted on an ongoing basis and are not time sensitive. All awards are subject to funding availability. The application process is completed online at www.goldenbeltcf.org/grants, and applicants must submit receipts dated within the last six months for reimbursement. Submitting an application does not guarantee funding, and applicants may be asked to provide additional information during the review process.

This fund reflects the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the causes our community cares about most. Grants like these are made possible by the generosity of local donors and funds entrusted to the Foundation. The Golden Belt Community Foundation is honored to continue this work and to walk alongside those facing difficult medical journeys.
